The project “Bailo: Art accessible to everyone” has been accomplished by the Treviso Civic Museums thanks to successful tenders won by the Municipality of Treviso. The Municipality participated in the Public Call for the removal of physical and cognitive barriers in Museums, Libraries, and Archives, aiming to allow wider access and participation in culture within the scope of the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan). The project is financed by the European Union and managed by the Ministry of Culture (M1C3-3; Inv. 1.2).
Project Goal
The general objective of the project is to overcome physical, sensory, cognitive, generational, and cultural barriers to ensure that every individual has the opportunity to experience the museum in their own unique way. This approach grants visitors the freedom to consciously choose how to build their cultural and emotional experience through the proposed tools and itineraries, regardless of age group, physical and cognitive abilities, or level of education.
Dedicated Website and Accessibility
To make this journey genuinely inclusive, a dedicated website has been developed. This site provides audio and video content tailored to different linguistic registers:
-
In-depth language: for those who desire comprehensive knowledge of the works and artists.
-
Concise language: for those who prefer an overview.
-
Simplified language: designed for visitors seeking an immediate and clear description.
-
Audio content for people who are blind or have low vision.
-
Videos in LIS (Italian Sign Language) for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
-
Texts in Easy-to-Read language (Facile da Leggere).
-
AAC content (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) for specific communicative needs.
The Role of Music
Original music, composed to evoke atmospheres and emotions inspired by the artworks, contributes to completing the journey. This soundscape harmoniously intertwines with the visual path, accompanying the visitor and uniquely enriching the overall museum experience.
